Training & Education a

Training & Education a traditional classroom setting with glass walls to reference the equipment outside during their lessons. The National Pipeline Training Fund was one of the first programs to utilize the new campus and will now call it home for a majority of it’s classes. They will offer Intermediate Sideboom, Intermediate Excavator, Intermediate Angle Dozer classes along with HDD, Pipelifter, Hydro-Excavation, Excavation class for Hotlines, and the Pipe Bending Class. In the Past, the NPTF conducted Advanced Training from time to time. Now with most of the program’s equipment in one central location, the Advanced training is going to be conducted on an annual basis. Stationary Engineers will have hands-on training in real world conditions in the physical plant. It allows an entire system to go offline for training while redundant systems stay online, to service the facility. There is plenty of room for trainees to spread out and study equipment from multiple angles and a viewing area from the control room so students can see changes being made while the changes are happening out in the floor. Another highlight is the mechanic’s shop building. With so much equipment on site, it is important to have a state-of-the-art workshop for training and maintenance of the equipment. A few amenities include a 10-ton overhead crane, welding simulators, and computer numerical control technology. The shop floor has railroad tracks built on footings so the heavy machines don’t crack the floor when they come in for cleaning and maintenance. This campus was designed to prepare IUOE members to meet the changes in technology and equipment in the construction and stationary fields.
